Lotus Pond Plein Air Events
If you like Monet’s water lilies, you will love the opportunity to paint this beautiful and tranquil lotus pond.
What is plein air painting? The phrase comes from the French and refers to landscape painting outdoors in the open air – in other words, painting on location.
Why paint outdoors? Because the natural environment is dynamic and experiential, and as an artist you may find you impart more energy and feeling into your paintings as a part of that living world, breathing in the fresh air, your feet on the good earth, immersed in it firsthand. And few places outdoors are quite so beautiful, contemplative, and peaceful as a lotus pond.
Studio and workshops are hosted or instructed by Nancy Ann Moore of the Chatham Artists Guild: 110 Blackberry Cove Chapel Hill NC, convenient to Farrington Village and Briar Chapel.
The event will be in June, when the lotus blooms are at their peak, scheduled early in the day to capture morning light and to avoid the heat of midday sun.
